PUBLIC TREASURY (ADMINISTRATION AND PAYMENTS)
AMENDMENT ACT 1999

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Public Treasury
(Administration and Payments) Act 1969:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Citation
1 This Act which amends the Public Treasury (Administration and
Payments) Act 1969 (hereinafter referred to as "the principal Act") may be
cited as the Public Treasury (Administration and Payments) Amendment
Act 1999.

Repeals and replaces section 22 of principal Act
2 Section 22 of the principal Act is repealed and replaced by the
following—

"Minister may approve write-off of public money
22 Where, in respect of any person from whom any public
money is recoverable, the Accountant General—

(a) is satisfied that in all the circumstances of the
case it is unlikely that such public money can
be recovered from that person; and

(b) obtains the prior written approval of the
Minister,

the Accountant-General may write-off the public money
recoverable from that person; and section 9 shall not apply to a
write-off effected under this section.".

Amends section 32A of principal Act
3 Section 32A of the principal Act is amended—

(a) in subsection (1), by inserting next after the word
"deliver" the words "to the Minister and"; and

(b) by inserting next after subsection (2) the following—

" (2A) The Minister shall cause the accounts
referred to in subsection (1) to be laid before both
Houses of the Legislature.".
