GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES (HEALTH INSURANCE)
AMENDMENT ACT 1999

[Date of Assent 24 March 1999]

[Operative Date 1 July 1998]

WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Government Employees
(Health Insurance) Act 1986 to enable the Minister of Finance to use
monies in the Government Employees Health Insurance Fund to
purchase reinsurance:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Citation
1 This Act may be cited as the Government Employees (Health
Insurance) Amendment Act 1999.

Amendment of section 4 of principal Act
2 Section 4 of the Government Employees (Health Insurance) Act
1986 is amended—

(a) by designating the existing section as subsection (1);

(b) by the addition of the following:

" (2) Without prejudice to subsection (1), the
Minister may pay out of the Fund the cost of premiums

in respect of reinsurance of expenses payable from the
Fund.".

Retroactive effect
3 This Act is deemed to have come into operation on July 1, 1998.
