MOTOR CAR AMENDMENT (NO 2) ACT 1998

WHEREAS it is expedient to remove the restriction imposed on
the holder of a driver's licence or learner's permit to drive private motor
cars falling within certain descriptions:

Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Motor Car Amendment (No 2) Act
1998.

Amends the Motor Car Act 1951
2 The Motor Car Act 1951 is amended—

(a) in section 16—

(i) by repealing subsections (11), (12) and (13);

(ii) by repealing the proviso to subsection (16); and

(iii) by repealing subsection (19);

(b) in section 20, by repealing paragraph (c) of subsection
(3) and substituting the following paragraphs—

"(ca) an examiner or traffic officer while acting within
the scope of his duties as such;

(cb) a police officer while acting within the scope of
his duties as such;

(cc) a person who is engaged or employed in the
operation of a public garage, in connection with
the operation of the public garage and subject as
prescribed, in order to move the motor car to
any place for the purpose of repairing or
servicing it or in order to move it to any place
appointed by the owner of the motor car by
some person on the owner's behalf after the
carrying out of any such repair or servicing as
aforesaid; or".
