HOSPITAL INSURANCE (STANDARD PREMIUM) REGULATIONS
1997

[made under section 40(1)(b) of the Hospital Insurance Act 1970 [title 18
item 9] and brought into operation on 1 April 1997

ARRANGEMENT OF REGULATIONS

Citation and commencement
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Hospital Insurance
(Standard Premium) Regulations 1997 and shall come into operation on
1 April 1997.

Standard premium
2 Subject to regulation 3, the standard premium payable in
respect of standard hospital benefit shall be $80.30¢ a month (or
$18.54¢ where paid weekly) of which $9.00¢ a month (or $2.08¢ a week)
shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Fund.

Persons over the age of 65
3 The standard premium payable in respect of standard hospital
benefit for persons over the age of sixty-five years who do not qualify for

subsidised hospital treatment under section 2(1)(b) of the Act shall
be $294.20¢ a month (or $67.90¢ a week) of which $9.00¢ a month (or
$2.08¢ a week) shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Plan.

Rescission
4 The Hospital Insurance (Standard Premium) Regulations 1996
are rescinded.
