GOVERNMENT OMNIBUS (FARES) AMENDMENT
REGULATIONS 1997

[made under section 9(b) of the Public Transportation Board Act 1951 [title
21 item 1] and brought into operation on 27 March 1997]

Citation and commencement
1 These Regulations which amend the Government Omnibus
(Fares) Regulations 1952 may be cited as the Government Omnibus
(Fares) Amendment Regulations 1997.

Amends regulation 2
2 Regulation 2 of the Government Omnibus (Fares) Regulations
1952 is amended—

(a) in the definition of the expression "child", by deleting the
words "three" and "thirteen" and substituting therefor
respectively the words "five" and "sixteen"; and

(b) by deleting the definition of the expression "special
transportation ticket" and substituting the following—

"special person" means a person of or above the age of
65 years who is resident in Bermuda or a person who
satisfies the Minister that he is suffering from a
disability, whether physical or otherwise, which

hinders him from embarking on or disembarking
from a bus unaided.".

Revokes and replaces regulation 4
3 Regulation 4 of the Government Omnibus (Fares) Regulations
1952 is revoked and replaced by the following—

"Fares
4 Fares for the carriage of passengers in Government
omnibuses shall be as follows—

(a) Persons of or above the age of 16 years and less than
65 years of age—

(i) Persons paying cash—

Up to 3 zones $2.50 per journey
Up to 14 zones $4.00 per journey

(ii) Persons holding tickets—

For any journey up to 3
zones, per booklet of 15
tickets: $15.00

For any journey up to 14
zones, per booklet of 15
tickets: $24.00

(iii) Persons holding passes—

Monthly—

For travel up to 14 zones $40.00,

subject to such discount, not exceeding 10%, as
the Board may from time to time allow to an
authorized agent who purchases ten passes or
more;

Quarterly—

For travel up to 14 zones $105.00

(iv) Persons using tokens—

Up to 3 zones $2.25 per journey
Up to 14 zones $3.75 per journey

authorized agent who purchases 200 tokens or
more

(b) Special person on production of a
special transportation identification— Free

(c) Students and children—

(i) if payment is made in cash: $1.00 for any
journey up to 14

zones

(ii) if monthly pass is purchased: $17.00 per month

(iii) if term pass is purchased: $38.00 per term

(iv) if booklet of tickets is pur-
chased, for any journey up $6.00 per booklet
to 14 zones: of fifteen tickets

(d) Persons under 5 years of age: Free

(e) Persons holding multi-day passes—

(i) for travel for 1 day: $10.00

(ii) for travel for 3 days:

Adult $21.00
Child $10.00

(iii) for travel for 7 days:

Adult $34.00
Child $15.00.".
