MOTOR TAXI AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1996

The Minister in exercise of the power conferred upon him by
sections 37, 102 and 103 of the Motor Car Act 1951 makes the following
Regulations:

Citation and commencement
1 These Regulations which amend the Motor Taxi Regulations
1952 may be cited as the Motor Taxi Amendment Regulations 1996, and
shall come into operation on 1 January 1997.

Amendments
2 The Schedule to the Motor Taxi Regulations 1952 is amended—

(a) in paragraph 1—

(i) under the heading "Rate 1 — MILEAGE", by
deleting the symbols and figures "$2.60" and
"$0.20" and substituting therefor respectively
the symbols and figures "$3.12" and "$0.24";
and

(ii) under the heading "Rate 3 — SURCHARGE", by
deleting paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting
the following—

"(a) occurs between the hours of midnight
and 6 a.m. and the taxi carries up to

four passengers or occurs between the
hours of 6 a.m. and midnight and the
taxi carries five or six passengers or
occurs on a public holiday and the taxi
carries up to four passengers, there
shall be added in any such case a
surcharge of twenty-five percent of the
total charge otherwise payable under
Rate 1; or

(b) occurs between the hours of midnight
and 6 a.m. or occurs on a public
holiday and, in either case, the taxi
carries five or six passengers, there
shall be added a surcharge of fifty
percent of the total charge otherwise
payable under Rate 1."; and

(b) in paragraph 2, by deleting sub-paragraphs (a) and (b)
and substituting the following—

" 4-SEATER TAXI CHARGE

one to four passengers $30.00

6-SEATER TAXI CHARGE

one to four passengers $30.00

five to six passengers $42.00".
