HOSPITAL INSURANCE (STANDARD PREMIUM) REGULATIONS
1996

[made under section 40(1)(b) of the Hospital Insurance Act 1970 [title 18
item 9] and brought into operation on 1 April 1996]

Citation and commencement
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Hospital Insurance
(Standard Premium) Regulations 1996 and shall come into operation on
1 April 1996.

Standard premium
2 Subject to regulation 3, the standard premium payable in
respect of standard hospital benefit shall be $75.80¢ a month (or
$17.49¢ where paid weekly) of which $7.90¢ a month (or $1.82¢ a week)
shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Fund.

Persons over the age of 65
3 The standard premium payable in respect of standard hospital
benefit for persons over the age of sixty-five years who do not qualify for

subsidised hospital treatment under section 2(1)(b) of the Act shall
be $279.50¢ a month (or $64.50¢ a week) of which $7.90¢ a month (or
$1.82¢ a week) shall be paid into the Mutual Re-Insurance Plan.

Rescission
4 The Hospital Insurance (Standard Premium) Regulations 1995
are rescinded.
