I, JAMES ERIC LLOYD, Minister for Local Government, Territories and Roads, determine this vehicle standard under subsection 7 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Standards Act 1989.

1.1.                                    Name of Legislative Instrument
1.1.1.               This instrument is the Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 69/00 – Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection) 2006 Amendment 1.
1.2.                                    Commencement
1.2.1.                              This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.
 
2.                                          amendment of vehicle standard
2.1.                  The changes specified in Schedule 1 amend Vehicle Standard (Australian Design Rule 69/00 – Full Frontal Impact Occupant Protection) 2006.  
 
 
 
SCHEDULE 1
 
[1]          Replace clause 5.5.1 with:
"5.5.1     The vehicle must be fitted with a seatbelt warning system which activates a continuous or flashing ‘Visual Indicator’ for a period of not less than 4 seconds when at least one of the following occurs:
·         The vehicle’s ignition switch is moved to the “on” position or to the “start” position, or
·         Before the engine has been running for 60 seconds, or
·         Before the vehicle has been in Forward motion for 500 metres, or
·         Before the vehicle has reached a forward speed of 25 km/h
 
The seatbelt warning system need not operate if the driver’s seatbelt is fastened or is withdrawn more than 10 cm from the retractor. An audible signal in addition to the ‘Visual Indicator’ is permissible."
 
[2]          Replace “5.5.3 The ‘Visual Indicator’ must comply with the requirements of a Group 2 ‘Visual Indicator’ in ADR 18/... .” with;
 “5.5.3    [This clause has been deleted]”
