I, JOSEPH BENEDICT HOCKEY, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, make this Notice under subsection 5(6) of the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (the Act). 1              Name of Notice                 This Notice is the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation (Definition of Employee) Notice 2007 (1).
2              Commencement                 This Notice commences on 25 August 2007.
3              Period of operation                 This Notice has effect up to and including 10 September 2007.
4              Declaration                 For subsection 5(6) of the Act, I declare that the class of persons mentioned in Column 2 of the Schedule, are employees of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet for the purposes of the activities or acts mentioned in Column 3 of the Schedule.   Note     The persons are engaged in activities or perform acts at the request or direction, or for the benefit, of the Commonwealth.

Persons who are engaged as volunteers under a written agreement with the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet without receiving any remuneration (excluding payment for expenses incurred).
Activities or acts performed, under the direction or control of an APS employee, by way of assistance to APEC 2007 Taskforce staff from 25 August to 10 September 2007 inclusive, including the provision of customer service to delegates and visitors during APEC Leaders Week.
