Determination 2008/18:
Remuneration and Allowances for Holders of Public Office
 
(i)        Pursuant to subsections 7(3), 7(3AA) and 7(4) of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973, the Remuneration Tribunal has inquired into the remuneration and allowances to be paid to holders of public office, and other matters significantly related thereto, and determines as set out below.
 
(ii)        This Determination takes effect on and from the day following the day it is registered in the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments unless otherwise specified.
 
PART 1 – PART-TIME OFFICES
 
1.1       In this part, Determination Number 7 of 2008 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.
 
1.2         Table A1A of Schedule A of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the “-” with “1” in Column 5 – Travel Tier against the entries for “Australian Bravery Decorations Council” and “Council for the Order of Australia”.
 
 
PART 2 – FULL-TIME OFFICES
 
2.1       In this part, Determination Number 8 of 2008 (as amended) is referred to as the Principal Determination.
 
2.2       Clause 3.1.1 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the current wording with the following wording: “Classification Board: Subject to individual qualification for this allowance, to be decided by the employer in accordance with agency guidelines, Members who have, or had, to relocate to Sydney to take up their appointment will be paid an accommodation allowance of $13,500 per annum.  The allowance does not represent salary for superannuation.”
 
2.3       Clause 2.2 has effect on and from 1 July 2008.
 
2.4         Table 2A of Part 2 of the Principal Determination is amended by replacing the current entry for “President, Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission” with the following entry:

2.5         Clause 2.2.2 of the Principal Determination is amended by omitting the current wording and substituting the following wording: “HREOC President: the Hon John Von Doussa will receive $160,750 base salary and $230,840 Total Remuneration while he occupies the office shown in Column 1.  The Hon Catherine Branson will receive $187,530 base salary and $256,880 Total Remuneration when she occupies the office commencing on 14 October 2008.”
 
2.6         Part 5 of the Principal Determination is amended by inserting the following clause, after clause 5.1.1: “5.1.2 Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.  For the period of her appointment as President, the Hon Catherine Branson is entitled to two weeks recreation leave per annum, additional to any entitlement in Clause 5.1.”
