Amendment Statement of Principles
concerning
 
HYPERTENSION
No. 12 of 2008
 
for the purposes of the
 
Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986
and
Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004
 
1.                      This Instrument may be cited as Statement of Principles concerning hypertension No. 12 of 2008.
 
2.                      The Repatriation Medical Authority amends, under subsection 196B(8) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986, Statement of Principles concerning hypertension Instrument No. 36 of 2003, as amended by Instrument No. 4 of 2004, by:
 
(A)             deleting ICD-10-AM codes I11, I12 and I13 from clause 2(c); and
 
(B)             replacing factors (b) and (o) in clause 5 with the following:
 
"(b)      consuming an average of at least 500 grams of alcohol per week for a continuous period of at least the six months before the clinical onset of hypertension; or"; and
 
"(o)      consuming an average of at least 500 grams of alcohol per week for a continuous period of at least the six months before the clinical worsening of hypertension; or".
 
3.                      The amendment made by this instrument applies to all matters to which Instrument No. 36 of 2003, as amended by Instrument No. 4 of 2004, section 120B of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986 and section 339 of the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004 apply.
 
4.                      The amendment made by this instrument takes effect from 9 January 2008.
