Exemption — display of landing lights and navigation and anti-collision lights
1          Duration
            This instrument:
(a)   commences at the beginning of 13 March 2009; and
(b)   stops having effect at the end of 13 March 2009.
2          Application
   (1)     This instrument applies to:
(a)   Kent Pietsch, holder of FAA Air Transport Pilot Licence Number 1932258, as the pilot in command of the Interstate S1A Cadet aircraft, FAA registration N37361; and
(b)   Robert Jay Carlton, holder of FAA Commercial Pilot Licence Number 585026603, as the pilot in command of the H101 SALTO jet powered glider, FAA registration N-101AZ; and
(c)   AirShows DownUnder (the operator).
   (2)     This instrument applies only in relation to the participation by the pilots in command and the aircraft in the night display organised by the operator at the Australian International Air Show 2009 at Avalon aerodrome.
3          Exemption
            The pilot in command and the operator of the aircraft are exempt from complying with the requirements of:
(a)   subregulation 207 (2) of CAR 1988 only to the extent mentioned in Schedule 1; and
(b)   subregulations 195 (1) and 196 (3) of CAR 1988 relating to the display of navigation and anti-collision lights.
4          Condition
            The exemption is subject to the condition mentioned in Schedule 2.
Schedule 1          Extent of exemption
            For paragraph 3 (a), the exemption extends only to the directions under subregulation 207 (2) of CAR 1988 that are contained in paragraph 3 of Appendix V of Civil Aviation Order 20.18.
Schedule 2          Condition
             The navigation lights must not be displayed if the pyrotechnics fitted to the aircraft are operating.
