AIRWORTHINESS DIRECTIVE
For the reasons set out in the background section, the CASA delegate whose signature appears below issues the following Airworthiness Directive (AD) under subregulation 39.001(1) of CASR 1998.  The AD requires that the action set out in the requirement section (being action that the delegate considers necessary to correct the unsafe condition) be taken in relation to the aircraft or aeronautical product mentioned in the applicability section: (a) in the circumstances mentioned in the requirement section; and (b) in accordance with the instructions set out in the requirement section; and (c) at the time mentioned in the compliance section.

Applicability:
Boeing 747 aircraft with General Electric CF6-45, -50 or Pratt & Whitney JT9D engines.

Requirement:
1.  Determine the applicability of the FAA Airworthiness Directives (AD) listed in Table 1.
2.  If it is determined that an FAA AD listed in Table 1 is applicable and has not been previously accomplished, perform the actions required by that AD or later FAA-approved revision.

Compliance:
Before issue of a certificate of airworthiness.
This Airworthiness Directive becomes effective on 30 July 2010.

Background:
The FAA ADs listed in Table 1 of this Directive require once-only actions for which the compliance date and/or period has passed.  Boeing 747 aircraft to which these FAA ADs apply may be registered in Australia in the future.  This Directive is issued to ensure such aircraft comply with all State of Design ADs.
