I, Conall O’Connell, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, make this Order under section 17 of the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997.

1              Name of Order
                This Order is the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry (Export of Live-stock to Egypt) Amendment Order 2011.
2              Commencement
                This Order commences on the day after it is registered.
3              Amendment of Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry (Export of Live-stock to Egypt) Order 2008
                Schedule 1 amends the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry (Export of Live-stock to Egypt) Order 2008.

                 substitute
6              Cattle — conditions to be complied with before export
         (1)   Before cattle are exported to Egypt, the exporter must ensure that they are individually tagged with a functioning radio tracking device that has been inserted into the animal, or that forms part of an ear tag, for the purpose of tracking the animal.
         (2)   At least 14 days before the expected date of export of a proposed consignment of cattle to Egypt, the exporter must give AQIS a written statement by:
                (a)    a competent Egyptian authority; or
               (b)    the owner, operator or manager of a feedlot referred to in column 3 of the table;
that
                (c)    quarantine space is available at a feedlot referred to in column 3 of an item in the table for the expected weight and number of cattle in the proposed consignment; and
               (d)    cattle destined for that feedlot will arrive at the port referred to in column 2 of that item in the table and be slaughtered at the slaughterhouse referred to in column 4 of that item.
