I, CHRIS BOWEN, Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, acting under paragraph 6C76(b) of Part 6C.7 of Schedule 6C to the Migration Regulations 1994 (‘the Regulations’) SPECIFY for the purposes of paragraph 6C76(b) Vocational Education Training and Assessment Services (VETASSESS) as an assessing authority.
 
 
 
 
This Instrument number IMMI 11/037, commences on 1 July 2011, immediately after the commencement of Migration Amendment Regulations 2011 (No. 3).

[NOTE 1:    Subitem  6C76(b) of the Regulations provides that, for items 6C71 and 6C72, the Minister must have regard to the following matters for the purpose of being satisfied that a qualification is of a recognised standard (a) whether the qualification has been recognised by the relevant assessing authority for the applicant’s nominated skilled occupation as being suitable for the occupation; (b) whether the qualification has been recognised by another body, specified by the Minister in an instrument in writing for this paragraph; (c) any other matter relevant to the consideration of the qualification, including the duration of the applicant’s study.
NOTE 2:     Item 6C71 of the Regulations provides that an applicant has met the requirements for the award of a doctorate by an Australian educational institution, or the award of a doctorate, by another educational institution, that the Minister is satisfied is of a recognised standard.
