I, Warren Snowdon, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, make the following determination under subsection 5C (1) of the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.

1              Name of determination
                This determination is the Veterans’ Entitlements (Non-warlike Service—Operation Quickstep Tonga) Determination 2012.
2              Commencement
                This determination commences on the day after it is registered.
3              Definitions
                In this determination:
Act means the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986.
ADF means the Australian Defence Force.
4              Non-warlike service
                For subsection 5C (1) of the Act, service in an operation mentioned in an item of Schedule 1 is non-warlike service for the purposes of the Act if:
                (a)    the service is in an area of operation mentioned in the item; and
               (b)    the service is during a period mentioned in the item.
