Exemption — flight and navigation equipment
1          Duration
                 This instrument:
(a)   commences on the day after registration; and
(b)   stops having effect at the end of December 2012.
2          Application
                 This instrument applies to all Australian registered aircraft which do not meet the flight and navigation requirements contained in Civil Aviation Order 20.18 (CAO 20.18).
3          Exemption
                 Australian registered aircraft are exempt from compliance with subregulation 207 (2) of the Civil Aviation Regulations 1988 only to the extent mentioned in Schedule 1.
4          Condition
The exemption is subject to the condition in Schedule 2.
Schedule 1          Extent of exemption
              The exemption extends only to the directions under subregulation 207 (2) relating to flight and navigation equipment that are contained in CAO 20.18.
Schedule 2          Condition
              The aircraft must only be operated if the flight and navigation equipment requirements of CAO 20.18 have been met by an alternative means of compliance which has the equivalent level of safety as determined by the type certificating authority for the aircraft taking into consideration its intended operation.
