1          Duration
                 This instrument becomes effective on 4 July 2012.
                 This instrument ceases to have effect if FAA AD 2011-12-10 is amended or cancelled.
2          Application
                 This instrument applies to Robinson Main Rotor Blades P/N A016-4 fitted to R22 helicopters mentioned in FAA AD 2011-12-10 and which have CASA STC SVR 516 “Conformal Vortex Generator Erosion Protection System” installed.
3          AMOC
                 Registered operators are approved to carry out an alternative means of compliance (AMOC) against airworthiness directive FAA AD 2011-12-10.
4          Conditions
                 The AMOC is subject to the following conditions;
                 All parts of the FAA AD must be complied with except for the following requirements which are to be carried out in lieu of the FAA AD requirements:
1.      For FAA AD 2011-12-10 Paragraph (a) substitute: The daily check is to be performed in accordance with Flightlog Pty Ltd, R22 Flight Manual Supplement DOC 11020-4, Rev 0 or later CASA approved revision. The actions required by this paragraph may be performed by the owner/operator (pilot) holding at least a private pilot licence and must be entered into the aircraft records showing compliance with this AD and AMOC.

2.      For FAA AD 2011-12-10 Paragraph (c) substitute: The inspections required by this paragraph must be completed with the blade tapes removed. Removal procedure is contained in FlightLog Pty Ltd R22 Maintenance Manual Supplement DOC 11020-3, or later CASA approved revision.
3.      For FAA AD 2011-12-10 Paragraph (d) substitute: The refinishing requirement required by this paragraph is not applicable as the tape is not repairable. The tape must be replaced in accordance with FlightLog Pty Ltd R22 Maintenance Manual Supplement DOC 11020-3, or later CASA approved revision.
                 The approval of CASA STC SVR 516 supersedes the restriction on the installation of “blade tape (anti erosion tape)” as stated in the Robinson Maintenance Manual.
