Exemption — provision of ARFFS training facilities at Avalon, Broome, Hamilton Island, Karratha, Launceston, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Townsville aerodromes
1          Duration
                 This instrument:
(a)   commences on the day after registration; and
(b)   stops having effect at the end of February 2015.
2          Revocation
Instrument CASA EX04/11 is revoked.
3          Application
                 This instrument applies to Airservices Australia (AA) as the approved Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFFS) providing firefighting services at Avalon, Broome, Hamilton Island, Karratha, Launceston, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton and Townsville aerodromes.
4          Exemption
                 AA is exempt from compliance with subregulation 139.772 (2) of CASR 1998 in respect of paragraph 22.1.6.1 of the Manual of Standards Part 139H (the MOS).
Note   Paragraph 22.1.6.1 requires the establishment of “hot fire” training facilities at the aerodromes.
5          Conditions
                 The exemption is subject to the conditions mentioned in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1          Conditions
        1     If a “hot fire” training facility is not available at an ARFFS location (original location), AA must ensure that “hot fire” training is provided at another ARFFS location (alternate ARFFS location).
        2     If “hot fire” training is provided at an alternate ARFFS location, the operator at the original location must enter into a formal agreement with the ARFFS operator at the alternate ARFFS location.
        3     For ARFFS location at Launceston, staff at this location must complete structural “hot fire” training at least once every 180 days using a suitable smoke hut.
