Part 1              Preliminary
1              Citation
 
This Direction may be cited as Ministerial Direction No. 1 of 2013.
2.             Commencement
 
This legislative instrument commences on the day after it is registered on the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments.
 
3.             Interpretation
 
In this instrument:
 
Act means the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency Act 2011.
 
Chief Executive Officer has the same meaning as given at section 3 of the Act.
 
Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency or TEQSA has the same meaning given at section 5 of the Act.
 
 
Part 2              Direction
 
 
4.             Review of initial teacher education courses of study
 
(1)   TEQSA must:
(i)        undertake a review of initial teacher education courses of study (‘the review”), commencing in 2014;
(ii)       consult on the terms of reference of the review in 2013; and
(iii)      establish a reference group as part of the review.
 
(2)   The review is to assess and benchmark the quality of curriculum, the pedagogy, and organisation and delivery of initial teacher education courses of study in Australia.
