1  Name
                   This is the Defence (Security Authorised Members—Identification and Search Wardens: Training and Qualification Requirements) Determination 2014.
2  Commencement
                   This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.
3  Authority
                   This instrument is made under subsection 71C(4) of the Defence Act 1903.
4  Definitions
                   In this instrument:
Act means the Defence Act 1903.
security authorised member of the Defence Force has the meaning given by section 71C of the Act.
5  Training and qualification requirements
             (1)  The training and qualification requirements for a person to be a security authorised member of the Defence Force—identification and search warden are as set out in this section.
             (2)  The person must have successfully completed:
                     (a)  the Service Police Officer Basic Course; or
                     (b)  the Service Police Basic Course; or
                     (c)  training that is of a kind approved, in writing, by the Minister, or a delegate of the Minister, and that is designed to give the person competence in the following:
                              (i)  managing security risk situations;
                             (ii)  searching people, vehicles and other things;
                            (iii)  controlling access to and exit from premises;
                            (iv)  conducting search and seizure operations;
                             (v)  operational safety skills and tactics.
             (3)  The person must have successfully completed training that is:
                     (a)  of a kind approved, in writing, by the Minister or a delegate of the Minister; and
                     (b)  designed to give the person familiarity with the following:
                              (i)  the Act and other relevant Commonwealth, State and Territory laws;
                             (ii)  the security policies and protocols of the Department;
                            (iii)  other matters relevant to the security of the Department;
                            (iv)  the policing arrangements used by the Defence Force;
                             (v)  the security alert system used by the Department.
             (4)  Each 12 months after the person has successfully completed both the course or training mentioned in subsection (2) and the training mentioned in subsection (3), the person must successfully complete training that is:
                     (a)  of a kind approved, in writing, by the Minister or a delegate of the Minister; and
                     (b)  designed to refresh or update the skills and knowledge the person needs to perform the duties of a security authorised member of the Defence Force—identification and search warden.
             (5)  The person must hold a current security clearance issued or recognised in accordance with the Department’s security policy.
