Approval of a General Alternative Means of Compliance (AMOC) against paragraph i(2) of Federal Aviation Administration Airworthiness Directive (FAA AD) 2014-05-29.
1          Duration
                 This instrument:
(a)               commences on 23 September 2014; and
(b)               ceases to have effect as if it had been repealed by another instrument,  if  either of the following instruments is amended or cancelled:
(i)     FAA AD 2014-05-29, Amendment 39-17801 (the AD); or
(ii)     SAP Service Bulletin (SB) B14-01 Revision B, dated May 15, 2014.
2          Application
                 This instrument applies to a registered operator who operates an aircraft with Continental Motors, Inc. (CMI) reciprocating engine(s) with replacement Superior Air Parts, Inc. (SAP) investment cast cylinder assemblies as identified in paragraph (c)(1), (c)(2) and (c)(3) of the AD.
3          AMOC
        (1)     I approve, as a means of compliance with the AD, other than that set out in the AD, for applicable cylinders that have not reached the hourly time in service but have reached the calendar time in service per CMI Service Information Letter SIL98-9 Revision C, dated July 17, 2013:
                 compliance with SAP Service Bulletin(SB) B14-01 Revision B, dated May 15, 2014 as an alternate to FAA AD 2014-05-29, paragraph i(2).
(2)     All other requirements of the AD that are not specifically referenced above remain fully applicable and must be complied with accordingly.
