1  Name
                   This is the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative—Industrial Electricity and Fuel Efficiency) Methodology Variation 2015.
2  Commencement
                   This instrument commences on the day after it is registered.
3  Authority
                   This instrument is made under subsection 114(1) of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative) Act 2011.
4  Amendment of methodology determination
                   The Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative—Industrial Electricity and Fuel Efficiency) Methodology Determination 2015 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.
Schedule 1—Amendments of the Carbon Credits (Carbon Farming Initiative—Industrial Electricity and Fuel Efficiency) Methodology Determination 2015
[1]           Section 5
                   Insert in the appropriate alphabetical positions:
biomass means organic matter other than:
                     (a)  fossil fuel, for example coal, lignite, petroleum or natural gas; and
                     (b)  biofuel, for example ethanol or biodiesel.
eligible renewable energy source means an eligible renewable energy source for the purposes of the Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000.
[2]           At the end of subsection 11(3)
                   Add:
                            ;
                     (d)  the use, as an energy source, of biomass that is not an eligible renewable energy source;
                     (e)  the use of off-grid electricity, heat, steam or cooling that is produced using biomass that is not an eligible renewable energy source;
                      (f)  energy-consuming equipment:
                              (i)  that uses, as an energy source, biomass that is not an eligible renewable energy source; or
                             (ii)  that uses off-grid electricity, heat, steam or cooling that is produced using biomass that is not an eligible renewable energy source.
[3]           Subparagraph 13(1)(a)(ii)
                   Omit “abatement;”, insert “abatement; and”.
[4]           After subparagraph 13(1)(a)(ii)
                   Insert:
                            (iii)  if biomass will be, or is likely to be:
                                        (A)  used as an energy source in implementation equipment; or
                                        (B)  used to produce off-grid electricity, heat, steam or cooling that will be used in implementation equipment;
                                   —a declaration that the biomass will comply with the definition of eligible renewable energy source;

                     (d)  if biomass was used during the reporting period:
                              (i)  as an energy source in implementation equipment; or
                             (ii)  to produce off-grid electricity, heat, steam or cooling that was used in implementation equipment;
                            —a declaration that the biomass used in the reporting period complied with the definition of eligible renewable energy source.
