An Act to amend the Marriage Act (Cap. 347).

ENACTED by the Parliament of Antigua and Barbudz as
follows -

1. "Ihis Act d a y be cited as the Marriage (Amendment) Act, shoa title
1993.

Z Section 46 of the Marriage Act (in this Act referred to as the Amendment of
principal Act) ts amended by renumbering section 46 as subsec- Section 46 of Cap.
tion (I) and by inserting after subsection (1) the following new 347.
subsection -

(2) For the purposes of this section -

(a) the Deputy Registrar or the Assis-
tant Registrar of the High Court;

(b) any legalofficer, Barrister-at-Law,
Solicitor, or Attorney-at-Law
appointed by the Minister
responsible for Legal Affairs after
consultation with the Registrar
General;

BARBUDA

(c) any fit and proper person appointed
by the Minister responsible for
Legal Affairs after consultation
with the Registrar General,

shall celebrate any marriage which the Regis-
trar General is authorised to celebrate under
this Put;

Section 49 of 3. Section 49 of the principal Act is repealed and is replaced
principal Act by the following -

replaced. "49 (1) For every marriage celebrated by

the Registrar General or any of the persons
specified in section 46 (2) there shall be paid to
the Registrar General a fee of one hundred
dollars which shall be paid into the Consoli-
dated Fund.

(2) For every hmrhge celebrated by the
Registrar Generalor any of the persons speci-
fied in section 46 (2) at a place other than the
office of the Registrar General, there shall be
paid to the person celebrating the marriage a
fee of one hundreddollars in addition to the fee
referred to in subsection (1).

(3) The additional fee referred to tlt subsec-
tion (2) shall be paid to the Registrar General
or the person who celebrated the marriage for
his own use." - ;r
