ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

No. 4 of 1999

AN ACT to provide for the payment of Pension Benefit to James
Drew (et al).

[ 25th February, 1999 ]

ENACTED by the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda as
follows-

1. This Act may be cited as the James Drew (et al) ( Pension Short title.
Benefit) Act, 1999.

2. (1) Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, authority is Authority to pay
hereby given for the payment out of the Consolidated pension to James
Fund the sumof Seven thousand, two hundredEastern Drew and the
Caribbean dollars ($7,200) per annum as pension to

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ e ~ ~ d in the persons named in the Schedule.

(2) The pension payable under subsection (1) shall be
paid monthly in arrears in equal installments.

3. (1) The pension payable under this Act shall commence c~~~~~~~~~~
on the 1st day of January, 1999 until the death of the and duration of
person named in the Schedule. pension.

(2) Where a person named in the Schedule dies, his
widow shall be paid a pension at the annual rate of two
thirds of the sum paid to the person so named.

BARBUDA

(3) The widow of a person so named in the Schedule shall
not be entitled to receive and shall not be paid pension
under this section in respect of any period after she re-
marries.

Pension protected. 4. The pension payable under this Act shall not-

(a) be assignable or transferable except for the purpose of
satisfying a debt due to the Government or an Order
of a Court towards the maintenance of a minor child
of a person named in the Schedule, or

(b) be liable to be attached, sequestered or levied upon for
or in respect of any debt or claim whatever except a
debt due to the Government or any sum recoverable
pursuant to such order of any court as mentioned in
sub-paragraph (a).
