CHAPTER 193

THE GOVERNMENT LAND (ST. JOHN'S) ACT

GOVERNMENT LAND (ST. JOHN'S)

(14th November, 1879.)

Whereas doubts have arisen as to the boundaries of the
plot known as the Government land to the east of the city
of St. John's, and it is expedient that the same should be
defined and put under certain regulation.

1. This Act may be cited as the Government Land Short title.
(St. John's) Act.

2. The boundaries of the Government land shall be ~ V ~ ~ ~ ~ ; ; f , , d
deemed to be on the north the public road leading to Cassada defined.
Garden, in length twenty-three chains or thereabouts; on
the south the old public road leading to Cedar Hill, in length
twenty-two chains or thereabouts; on the east a straight line
continued along the eastern fence of the Poor House and
forming the boundary of Clare Hall Estate, in length twenty-
nine and a half chains or thereabouts; and on the west East
Street, in length twenty-four and a half chains or thereabouts.

Rules to be made
for use of
Government
land.

3. The said Government land shall be under the con-
trol of the Cabinet and shall be used for such purposes as
shall from time to time be sanctioned by rules to be passed
by the Cabinet, which rules, on being approved by Parlia-
ment, shall be of the same effect as if they had been incor-
porated in this Act.
