SCHEDULE.

ASSESSMENT O F COMPENSATION
(LAND OF ALVAN CAMACHO)

(29th June, 1962.)

WHEREAS a certain parcel of land belonging to one
Alvan Camacho (now deceased) and situated at Nut Grove
in the Parish of Saint John in Antigua and Barbuda was
compulsorily acquired by the Government under the provi-
sions of the Land Acquisition Act 1944, as validated by sec-
tion 34 of the Land Acquisition Act 1958:

AND WHEREAS the Land Acquisition Act, 1944, was
repealed by section 33 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1958,
without provision being made therein for assessment of com-
pensation in respect of pending proceedings:

AND WHEREAS doubts have arisen as to whether claims
relating to the assessment and payment of compensation in
respect of the compulsory acquisition of the said land can

now be assessed in accordance with the provisions of the Land
Acquisition Act, 1958.

Short title. 1. This Act may be cited as the Assessment of Com-
pensation (Land Of Alvan Camacho) Act.

Assessment of
Compensation.

2. Subject to the provisions of section 3 of this Act,
all claims, questions and other matters relating to the assess-
ment, award or payment of compensation, and to the
apportionment of compensation, in respect of the compulsory
acquisition by the Government of the land specified in the
Schedule to this Act, shall be made and determined as far
as is possible in accordance with the provisions of the Land
Acquisition Act 1958, and a Board of Assessment for the
purpose of assessing compensation in respect of the com-
pulsory acquisition of the lands described in the said Schedule
shall-

(a) be appointed and constituted in accordance with
the terms of the Land Acquisition Act, 1958;

( b ) have all the powers conferred upon a Board of
Assessment duly appointed under the provisions of the
Land Acquisition Act, 1958.

Acquisition and 3. (1) The land specified in the Schedule to this Act

shall be deemed to have been duly acquired on the 11 th day
of October, 1956, under and in accordance with the provi-
sions of section 3 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1958, and
accordingly the declaration to be made by the Clerk of the
Executive Council shall be deemed to have been duly made
and published in the Gazette and the date of the second
publication in the Gazette of the said declaration, and the date
upon which the Authorised Officer entered and took posses-
sion of the said land, shall be deemed to be the 1 lth day
of October, 1956.

(2) The notice of acquisition required to be issued by
the Authorised Officer in respect of the said land in accor-
dance with the provisions of section 7 of the Land Acquisi-
tion Act, 1958 shall be issued as soon as may be after the
date of coming into force of this Act, but the provisions of
paragraph (a) of subsection (2) of section 7 and the provi-
sions of paragraph (d) of subsection (2) of section 3 of the
said Act, shall not apply to the said notice of acquisition.

SCHEDULE

All that lot piece or parcel of land containing 3.812 acres English
Statute Measure and situated at Nut Grove in the Parish of Saint
John in the Island of Antigua and bounded as follows-

On the North by land of Alvan F. Camacho,

On the South by land of Alvan F. Camacho and one Jarvis,

On the West by a public road, and

On the East by a public road.
