1. This Act may be cited as the Antigua and Barbuda short title.
Brazil Co-operation (Ratification of Agreement) Act.

2. The Agreement on Cultural, Scientific and Ratification,
Technical Co-operation between the Government of Antigua
and Barbuda and the Government of the Federal Republic
of Brazil signed at Brasilia, Brazil on the 19th day of August
1982 on behalf of the Governments of Antigua and Barbuda
and the Federative Republic of Brazil, the text of which is
set out in the Schedule is ratified.

SCHEDULE

Agreement on Cultural, Scientific and Technical Co-operation
between the Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the

Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil

The Government of Antigua and Barbuda

and

The Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil

Wishing to develop the cultural, scientific and technical ties
between the two countries, in the mutual interest of developing
friendly relations between their peoples;

BASED on the respect in the principles of sovereignty and
national independence, of equality of Rights, of mutual benefits,
and non-interference in internal affairs of each other;

AGREE as follows:

Article I

The contracting parties shall promote, by appropriate
means, an efficient co-operation, in the cultural, scientific and
technical fields.

Article 11

Both contracting parties shall make efforts to improve and
favour the co-operation among Cultural Centres and of Scien-
tific and Technical Research, as well as other cultural institu-
tions of the two countries, in order to exchange information
and experiences in the mentioned areas.

Article 111
1. Both contracting parties shall endeavour to promote the

exchange of information and favour the exchange of study mis-
sions in cultural, scientific and technical fields.

2. The ways of co-operation in the above-mentioned fields
will be negotiated, through normal diplomatic channels, between
specialized institutions of both countries and approved by the com-
petent government authorities.

Article IV

According to the principles of respect to the sovereignty and
to non-interference in the internal affairs of each other, the con-
tracting parties shall contribute to the mutual knowledge of the
cultural values of their peoples through the following means:

- exchange of cultural, scientific and technical
information;

- exchange of artists, scientists and technicians;

and

-joint organization of cultural and scientific events.

Article V

This Agreement will come into effect on the date of the
exchange of Ratification Instruments between the parties. This
Agreement shall remain in force initially for (five) years, being
automatically extended for equal successive periods, and it may
be nullified by any of the contracting parties through notification
convened by diplomatic channels. The nullification shall become
effective 6(six) months after the receipt of such notification.

Done at Brasilia on the 19th of August, 1982, two originals,
in the English and Portuguese languages, be texts being equally
authentic.
