ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

TOURISM AUTHORITY (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2015

No. 4 of 2015

AN ACT to amend the Tourism Authority Act, 2008 No. 6 of 2008.

ENACTED by the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda as follows—

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Tourism Authority (Amendment) Act, 2015.

2. Interpretation

In this Act, “principal Act” means the Tourism Authority Act, 2008 No. 6 of 2008.

3. Repeal of section 17-Advisory Council

Section 17 of the principal Act is repealed.

4. Amendment of First Schedule

The First Schedule to the principal Act is amended as follows-

(a) by the repeal of subparagraph (1) of paragraph 1 and the substitution of the following—

“(1) The Board shall comprise of the following—

(a) a Chairman;

(b) a Deputy Chairman;

(c) the Financial Secretary;

(d) a leading banking or financial professional;

(e) a representative of the Antigua and Barbuda Cruise Association;

(f) the Advisor to the Minister responsible for Tourism on Yachting and Sailing;

(g) a representative of the Antigua and Barbuda Hotels and Tourism Association;

(h) the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism or the Director General of

Tourism; and

(i) the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority shall be in attendance at all meetings of

the Board, but shall not have a vote.

(b) by the insertion of the words—

(i) “(1)” before the first paragraph; and

(ii) the insertion of the following new subparagraph-

“(2) the Board may, where the circumstances require, conduct its meeting

through an electronic communication.”

5. Repeal of Second Schedule

The Second Schedule to the principal Act is repealed in its entirety.
